Aware of the importance of eco-friendly alternative energy development to help mitigate the effects of global warming and reduce the import of fuels, Bangchak Petroleum has invested in solar power projects since 2012. In 2013, it implemented Phase 3, which consisted of four 8 MW solar power plants – in the Takhian Sub-district of Dan Khun Thot District in Nakhon Ratchasima; the Bu Krasang Sub-district of Nong Ki District in Buriram; the Salaeng Thon Sub-district of Prakhon Chai District in Buriram; and the Hua Takhe Sub-district of Bamnet Narong District in Chaiyaphum, and a 16 MW solar power plant in the Na Khaem Sub-district of Kabin Buri District in Prachin Buri. The five power houses are expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2014.

Nam Kong 0 Hydropower Project

Nam Kong is a tributary on the left bank of the Se Kong River and situated in the south of Attapeu Province. Three cascade hydropower projects - Nam Kong 1, Nam Kong 2 and Nam Kong 3 were developed but there was still potential for a hydropower project at downstream of Nam Kong 1 dam site. Hence, Nam Kong 0 Hydropower Project was proposed and studied in 2011.

Engineering Assistance for Excavation at Nam Ken Dam

Construction of Nam Ken Dam is a subsidiary project of the 1,600 MW Hongsa Lignite Power Plant in Hongsa City, Sayaboury Province, Lao PDR, which was scheduled to generate electricity for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand in 2015. The dam will also be beneficial for agricultural activities and feed daily consumption of people. TEAM GROUP provided engineering assistance to prevent and address the problem of slope failure during excavation around the spillway.

Development of Geographic Information of Water Sources at Sub-district Level, Fiscal Year 2012 in cooperation with local agencies

Client: Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (Public Organization) 
Administered by: TEAM Consulting Engineering and Management Co., Ltd.
Services: Training on water source database and mapping, cooperating with local agencies in improving and developing sub-district water source maps

The program involved survey and mapping of water sources in communities across the country. The pilot project was implemented in 2012 at 500 sub-districts at risk of flooding, landslide and drought. The project will complete the existing water source database for future application and enhancement of community water management.
