Detailed Design of the MRT Purple Line Project Tao Pun - Rat Burana (Kanchanapisek Road)
Client: CKST-PL Joint Venture
TEAM GROUP was entrusted by CKST-PL Joint Venture with the detailed design of the subway tunnel and stations for the MRT Purple Line Tao Pun–Rat Burana Section (Kanchanaphisek Road) under Contract 1 (Tao Pun–National Library Section) and Contract 2 (National Library–Phan Fa Section). This is a project under the Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan for Bangkok Metropolitan Region (M-MAP). The project features an elevated track structure starting at the MRT’s Chalong Ratchatham or Purple Line’s Tao Pun Station and running along Ngor 8 Road to cross Bang Sue Canal. It then descends into a tunnel beneath the Royal Thai Army’s Ordnance Department from where the underground section turns right to Thahan Road before heading to Kiakkai Intersection, Samsen Road, the new parliament house,
Rajinibon School, the Royal Irrigation Department, Vajira Hospital, the National Library, Bang Lamphu Canal, and then turning left to Phra Sumen Road, Bowon Niwet Temple, Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue, and terminating at Phan Fa Lilat Intersection. The total length of the underground section is 7.2 kilometers and there are six stations. With an interchange with the existing Purple Line, the project will facilitate public travel in Nonthaburi, Bangkok, and Samut Prakan.
